      Hi Sheila

Shiatsu is very effective in relieving anxiety, it has a powerful and calming effect upon the whole nervous system – with children treatments are shorter as their energy changes more quickly. Sessions are for 30 minutes and I recommend that the parent with the child has a mini session for the remaining 15 minutes – a great opotunity for mum or dad to release any tension they are carrying for their little one. The child lies down next to mum or dad and enjoys a cuddle from them while I work on the parents back and shoulders. This also helps the kid learn how to relax from watching their mum or dad. Let me know if you wish to book a session if you are in my area. Many thanks for your interest.

My child is very anxious too and also having a lot of trouble sleeping through the night she wakes up maybe twice a night. She is very scared from having bad dreams. I’m not sure what Shiatsu could do about the dreaming but could it help her at all she is 10 years old and has had a pretty rough time of it in the past year.

I have just had a baby girl three months ago and it was a very traumatic birth, in the end forceps were used. She is very fractious and cries a lot and is also suffering from colic too. I have heard cranial-sacral therapy is good for babies but I am a great fan of Shiatsu myself having received many treatments while living in Canada and after reading your post wondered if you treat babies too.

      Hi Victoria

Yes Shiatsu is a safe and effective therapy with babies too. I am happy to offer treatments for very small babies like yours – as I have mentioned before children respond quickly to energy work and babies even more so, therefore an hours treatment for you and your baby. I will work with the baby to begin with and then work on yourself, obviously baby stays with you during your session too. It is really useful to have Shiatsu and rebalance your own energy because if the birth was traumatic for your baby it would have been for your own body too. The relationship between mother and baby is so close that your baby will benefit from positive changes to your own well-being. A noticeable change in your baby’s energy will start to show after a series of four treatments.
      Many thanks for your question.

My ten year old boy is suffering from ADHT would Shiatsu be of any benefit to him at all. He finds it very difficult to concentrate and be still for any length of time. I’m not even sure he could lie still enough for a treatment.

      Hi Megan

I have experience of working with Shiatsu with two boys aged 8 and 10, brothers who both suffered from ADHT. It is important to have different ways of working with each individual and the Shiatsu treatment would be quicker and also need to flow quickly from different positions so your boys energy was able to receive and stop the fidgeting and movement that occurs with this condition. It may also take longer to see significant changes but you will see them over a period of time.
      Many thanks for your question.
